When it comes to leisure, Walcheren is everyone’s friend. Nature and culture go hand in hand here. Especially along the coast of Zeeland, the landscape lets us see its different faces. De Manteling protects the hinterland of northwest Walcheren between Domburg and Oostkapelle against the relentless sea wind. Here is an oak forest of over two hundred years old. And yet the trees are no higher than one meter. The forester calls them the ‘Zeeland bonsai trees’: shaved by the cutting west wind and the salt dust.
Numerous hiking, cycling and riding trails lead along beautiful countryside. Everywhere you see hawthorn, the most characteristic bushes of Walcheren. The coastline is also renowned for its spring and autumn migration of tens of thousands of birds.
A lot of walkers leave Oostkapelle alone. That is a big mistake. If you are looking for peace and quietness, space and beautiful landscapes you can make beautiful walking-tours. And there is a lovely fresh sea-air.
The coast of Oostkapelle has wide beaches and offers magnificent views over the sea. From the view of the coast is beautiful. The beach lies shining in the sun and goes in a friendly curve with the sea and the sea can sometimes lighten unlikely bleu. And along the flood mark there are always people walking, weather or no weather. Oostkapelle is with all its catering industry at the sunny residence the stopping place for walkers.
